What the platform needed.

ServiceFix needed a way to run day-to-day field service operations (jobs, scheduling and worker assignments) through a single system instead of ad hoc tracking, so managers could see the state of the business at a glance.

02 · Engineering challenge

What made the work meaningful.

Job status needed to update in real time as work progressed, and worker scheduling had to reflect availability accurately enough that managers could trust it when assigning new jobs.

What Andrew worked on.

Andrew built the platform full stack: the company-management workflow, real-time job tracking and worker scheduling, along with the underlying PostgreSQL database design.

04 · Engineering approach

How it was built.

The system modeled jobs, workers and schedules as first-class records in PostgreSQL, with job status updates reflected in real time so managers always had a current view of active work. Scheduling was built around actual worker availability rather than a static calendar, reducing the gap between what the schedule said and what was really happening.
